ĐÀ NẴNG — Singapore’s ship RSS Intrepid 69, a guided missile frigate, with a 150-member crew aboard docked at the central city’s Tiên Sa Port for a four-day visit in a warm-up reception on Thursday.

The ship, which was led by Senior Lieutenant Colonel, Joseph Neo, is the first naval ship from Singapore to visit the city this year.

The crew is scheduled to participate in a range of cultural and sports exchanges with the Vietnamese Navy, joint search and rescue exercises at sea and visits to the city and other destinations.

The ship will leave on April 29.

In 2014, Singapore’s landing ship tank RSS 208 also paid a four-day visit to the city.

Singapore is seen as the biggest investor in Đà Nẵng with a total investment of US$717.87 million – amounting to 23.44 per cent of foreign direct investment projects in the city.

SilkAir, the regional wing of Singapore Airlines, started a weekly flight between Đà Nẵng and Singapore in 2014.

In 2015, Jetstar Asia also launched direct flights connecting Đà Nẵng and Singapore. — VNS
