HÀ NỘI — Austrian Ambassador to Việt Nam Hans-Peter Glanzer has been awarded the “For peace and friendship among nations” insignia of the Việt Nam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) in recognition of his significant and substantive contributions to the two countries’ relations.

Speaking at the awarding ceremony in Hà Nội on Monday, VUFO President Phan Anh Sơn said that during his working tenure in Việt Nam, the ambassador has made great contributions to enhancing bilateral cooperation in various fields, with emphasis placed on people-to-people diplomacy, fostering exchanges, interactions, and mutual understanding between the two peoples.

Under the leadership of the ambassador, the embassy has coordinated with Vietnamese agencies and organisations to hold cultural and art exchange programmes, which have enhanced the public’s access to and participation in cultural and artistic events, and helped promote cultural diversity and foster the two peoples’ exchanges.

The ambassador has also played a crucial role in the joint efforts of both sides to successfully arrange high-level meetings and delegation exchanges, and organise major events, such as the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Việt Nam and Austria (December 1, 1972 – 2022).

He has also paid due attention to promoting bilateral cooperation in trade, economics, science, and education, added Sơn.

Expressing his honour to receive the insignia, Ambassador Hans-Peter Glanzer thanked the VUFO, the Việt Nam-Austria Friendship Association, and Vietnamese partners for their support during his tenure.

Stressing the importance of the friendship and cooperation between the two peoples, the ambassador said he believes people-to-people exchanges will serve as a bridge to promote collaboration in various fields such as economics, investment, trade, education, culture, and tourism; and further deepen the relationship between Việt Nam and Austria. — VNA/VNS
