I’m 19 years old, and this is the first time I can vote for the National Assembly. I’m excited and a little nervous at the same time. I’m excited as I am finally recognised as a grown-up and eligible to vote, a key citizen right and duty of any Vietnamese. More importantly, I can now voice my opinions on my country’s political affairs and be a part of the success of the new NA.
I have looked into the profiles and the agenda of all NA candidates in my neighbourhood. It was a pity that I missed their meetings with residents as I had classes, but from what I read about them, they all seemed quite capable of performing well as a NA member. I am yet to decide who to vote for, and I think I will struggle to reach a decision.
I don’t know who will win in the election, but whoever does, I hope they will try their best to protect the rights of the residents. After all, they are selected by the people and are their representatives in government. — VNS
