Classical concert raises funds for people hit by storms

The Saigon Classical Music Group has hosted the “Stay Strong Miền Trung” concert to raise funds for poor households and victims of flooding in the central region.

The concert’s highlights were Trịnh Công Sơn’s Hạ Trắng (White Summer) and Chopin’s Etude No 11, Op 25, and Múa Nàng Trúc Xinh (Dance of Pretty Lady) by Vietnamese composer Hoàng Cương.

The concert on Friday featured masterpieces by Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Debussy, Piazzolla, and Regondi.

The performances also featured young musicians such as pianists Đặng Trí Dũng, violinist Lâm Hoài Bão, and trumpeter Nguyễn Hoàng Thiên Ân.

Soprano Lý Hoàng Kim performed the song Memory from the musical Cats and an aria from Puccini’s from opera Gianni Schicchi.

All donations will be used to provide food, clothes and medical help for people affected by storms and floods in central provinces.

The concert took place from 6:30pm-8pm at LYTHI at 2 Nguyễn BỈnh Khiêm Street in District 1. — VNS
