HÀ NỘI — The first vinyl record of classical diva Phạm Thu Hà, titled Đường Em Đi (My Way), featuring the classical songs of late renowned composer Phạm Duy, has been released.

“I choose the songs of Phạm Duy for this album because I have for long felt a special love for his music, and this genre of music is also my strength. Besides this, it is also the desire of my fans to hear me sing Phạm Duy’s love songs,” Hà said at a press conference held on Tuesday in Hà Nội.

The album features eight well-known songs of Phạm Duy, including Chiều Về Trên Sông (Afternoon Upon the River), Đường Chiều Lá Rụng (With Falling Leaves), Đường Em Đi (My Way) and Còn Gì Nữa Đâu (No More Left).

The album was made with the support and artistic instruction of composer Duy Cường, Phạm Duy’s son.

To protect the copyright and most importantly, to caress every palette of feeling, Phạm Thu Hà’s fourth album was launched in vinyl, recorded and then mastered and mixed by Ron Leeper and produced in the US, Hà said.

To meet the demand and desire of the young audience, Phạm Thu Hà will release a CD of My Way in the future, Hà said.

Before My Way, Phạm Thu Hà released her chamber music album (Classic Meets Chillout), mixed with electronic sounds; Tựa Như Gió Phiêu Du (Love is like Wind Drift), blending pop, opera and classical music; and Hà Nội. Yêu (Hà Nội. Love), in which she experimented with jazz.

Late Phạm Duy, regarded as Việt Nam’s most prolific songwriter, composed nearly 1,000 songs during a career spanning more than 70 years. — VNS
