YÊN BÁI – The northern mountainous province of Yên Bái will create favourable conditions for foreign investors, including those from South Korea, said chairwoman of the provincial People’s Committee Phạm Thị Thanh Trà.

During the meeting with a delegation from the South Korea Business Association who came to explore investment opportunities in the locality on Monday, Trà called for Korean firms to make investments in the province’s industrial zones or develop tourism projects here.

She also expressed her support for the proposed Korean solar power project.

President of the association, Shim In Bo, said Korean firms wanted updates on the province’s socio-economic development plans, incentives for foreign investors, local infrastructure and human resources to develop a solar power project in the province.

Yên Bái is home to five industrial parks with developed infrastructure facilities, with three located in Yên Bái City.

Two other environmentally-friendly industrial parks are under construction to lure more foreign direct investment (FDI).

The province to date has attracted US$205 million in FDI, mainly from India, Singapore, Taiwan, mainland China and Japan. — VNS
