BAT Vietnam nurtures mid-career professionals with networking event

BAT Vietnam organised the first-of-its-kind networking event for mid-career professionals in HCM City on December 14, attracting nearly 150 participants.
BAT Vietnam’s networking event aimed at enabling mid-career professionals to prepare themselves for future opportunities and challenges.The company has been the recipient of several prestigious HR awards.

Mid-career is a stage when a professional has five years or more of work experience and a certain amount of knowledge and skills that can help them climb up the career ladder to higher positions.

“Adapting and Thriving: A Leadership Journey in a Dynamic World,” the networking event, was aimed at supporting mid-career professionals connect with their peers and proactively shape their professional trajectory, preparing themselves for future opportunities and challenges.

It offered practical success stories from experienced leaders like Mr. Hamzah Fazal – BAT Vietnam’s head of talent, culture & inclusion, Mr. Bui Quang Tinh Tu – founder and managing director of Envision Nexus and Ms. Ngan Tran - Founder/CEO of The New Leader, Harvard Leadership Executive.

The speakers shared valuable insights on how mid-career professionals could differentiate themselves and understand the expectations placed on them.

They emphasized the importance of defining a future skillset that is well-prepared for change.

Mr. Fazal discussed organisational leadership saying, “We encourage individuals to bring their authentic selves to the workplace, fostering open dialogue between leaders and employees through what we call 'life stages conversations.'

“These discussions aim to understand personal and professional goals, ensuring that individuals feel heard and listened to without the fear of judgment. The goal is to prepare a proper and customised plan for career advancement.”

Mr. Fazal stressed the significance of understanding the impact of leadership as individuals progress to more senior positions.

Senior leaders need to be more cautious, patient with team members, giving trust, and recognizing good behaviour to build a positive organisational culture.

This event also consolidated BAT's efforts to create a safe and equal working environment in addition to building a diverse, inclusive and united corporate culture, thereby inspiring like-minded businesses to join hands in building a high-quality Vietnamese labour market that is able to compete with the rest of the world.

BAT Vietnam has been honoured with a hat trick of HR awards thanks to its emphasis on inclusion and respect for differences, which promotes individual development as well as the entire enterprise’s growth.

Besides being recognised as a “Great Place to Work” in 2023 by global organisation Great Place to Work through an assessment process, BAT Vietnam was also recognised in two categories, Learning & Development and Workplace Wellbeing, at the 2023 Vietnam Excellence Awards by Anphabe and VCCI.

BAT Vietnam received the HR Asia - Best Companies to Work for in Asia 2023 Awards by HR Asia Magazine, the fourth consecutive year it won the award.

These efforts help BAT Vietnam find a place among the Top 11 Sustainable Businesses at the 2023 CSI 100 Awards given away by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

It was for a fifth time in eight years that BAT Vietnam made the list of Sustainable Businesses in Viet Nam.
