A total of 66,991 visitors came to the pearl island from January 29 to February 4. Many hotels and resorts were full, and there were many crowded and bustling entertainment spots. During the first days of the Lunar New Year, Phu Quoc tourism showed promising signs.
With beautiful weather, immersed in warm sunshine and blue sea, Phu Quoc pearl island was a "hot" destination, attracting the most visitors during the Lunar New Year.
Beautiful beaches such as Bai Trao, Bai Sao and Rach Vem were full of tourists swimming and taking pictures. At entertainment spots such as Hon Thom Cable Car, tourists waited in long lines to get on the cable car.
According to Phu Quoc International Airport, in the first week of the Lunar New Year, there were 368 flights to the pearl island, equivalent to more than 52 flights per day. After that, the number of flights remained high, about 40 flights per day.
On February 4, 2022 (the 4th day of the Lunar New Year), there were a total of 20,722 tourists visiting and travelling to Phu Quoc, including 2,340 international visitors and 18,382 domestic tourists. The number of domestic tourists increased by 3,950 compared to February 3rd. According to the prediction of the Kien Giang Tourism Department, it is estimated that during the nine days of the Tet holiday, Phu Quoc welcomed about 80,000 visitors.
Huynh Quang Hung, Chairman of Phu Quoc City People's Committee, said: "Up to this point, Phu Quoc City has completed two COVID injections for the people, and they are focusing on injecting the 3rd dose under the guidance of the Ministry of Health, so they are ready to welcome domestic and international tourists."
"During the Lunar New Year this year, the number of tourists to Phu Quoc is very large. The hotels and resorts of large corporations such as Sun Group and Vingroup are fully occupied. We have coordinated with accommodation facilities and large enterprises to take measures to prevent epidemics, directing medical centres and medical stations to be on duty 24/7; we ensure parallel works of disease prevention and economic development.”
Bich Nga, a tourist from Hanoi, said: "This year's Tet holiday is quite long, so my family decided to go on vacation to Phu Quoc to escape from the cold of Hanoi because the weather here is warm and sunny, and there are a variety of new, beautiful, and attractive entertainment destinations."
"Despite late planning, while many hotels were already full, my family managed to book a full-package tour through a travel agency. It's nice to see Phu Quoc bustling with tourists on the first day of the year like this."
'The beaches are as beautiful as Bali and the Maldives, the weather is sunny and warm all year round, seafood is cheap and delicious, and there are many good deals on full-package travel combos. They are the reasons why Pearl Island is always a destination we cannot miss for our spring trips."
Moreover, in the past few years, Phu Quoc has also surprised visitors when adding new high-class tourism products and experiences, which help to bear its mark and delight tourists.
For instance, the Mediterranean town has created a "fever" among the tourists recently, especially young people thanks to its quality check-in corners that are like a remote Italian coastal village.
Recently, this town has also added a famous artistic and architectural highlight - the Sun Signature Gallery festival and event centre - designed by architectural master Bill Bensley.
And this New Year, a new product at Hon Thom - Exotica Village themed subdivision, along with a wooden roller coaster game launched for the first time in the country - becoming a brand-new check-in yet vibrant "gathering place" for thrill-seekers.
A series of jubilant experiences here such as the seaside bar, coral aquarium, seabed walk, or exciting performances by foreign artists at the water park Aquatopia also bring excitement to visitors.
For New Year, right after the fourth epidemic, Phu Quoc was already full of life with more than 26,000 visitors within 3 days. The rapid revival of pearl island tourism has shown the great potential and opportunities of Phu Quoc.
The first island city of Vietnam processes various advantages: a prime location, facilities, adequate tourist traffic with airport and seaport, beautiful nature with both forest and sea, rich local culture, and flexible investment and socio-economic development policies.
Compared to other destinations, Phu Quoc has the advantage of year-round sunshine, less rain, and storms, so tourism can be exploited during all four seasons. As an isolated island with many high-class resorts, Phu Quoc is also a destination that attracts international tourists.
Lam Thi Diem Tram, Director of Phu Quoc Pearl Island Tourism and Events Co., said “After Tet, the peak period, we will build reasonable programs for a very large source of visitors, because we are currently receiving a large number of bookings, from 500,000 to 1,500,000 visitors going to Phu Quoc."
At the same time, she also expressed her belief in the advantages and resilience of the pearl island in the future.
"In the present, in Phu Quoc and its beautiful landscape, with the international-class 4, 5, and 6-star accommodation facilities, we are extremely confident about products here. Phu Quoc is a formidable competitor compared to other destinations in Vietnam such as Nha Trang, Da Nang, Ha Long and Sa Pa, I hope that in 2022, this will be a tremendous explosive destination," Tram said.
With tourism potential throughout all four seasons, Phu Quoc is also promising to become the number 1 tourist investment destination in Viet Nam.
And thanks to the open investment attraction policy, Phu Quoc also converges with the leading reputable investors, with a chain of top-class projects in the country: all are promising to make the destination even more attractive in the future.
