HÀ NỘI — Talented spiker Nguyễn Hữu Hà has decided to retire and will work as a trainer for the Hà Nội Đức Giang Chemicals female volleyball club from this month.

Hà, who used to be a key player of the national team for years, signed a three-year contract to coach the club.

Before arriving at his new home, Hà played and also trained players at the Border Guard club.

During his volleyball career spanning 15 years, Hà won two Southeast Asian Games and several other local titles including the national championship.

In another significant move in national basketball, hitter Nguyễn Hoàng Thương left Maseco HCM City, ending their seven-year relationship.

The 1.98m player’s contract ended on January 9. Thương and his club were unable to find common ground while signing a new deal, so they decided to separate.

Under Maseco jersey Thương won the Hùng Vương Cup trophy and the national championship title in 2015. He also bagged a silver medal with the national team at the Southeast Asian Games.

It is rumoured that Thương will land at Sanest Khánh Hòa, which displayed a poor performance at last year’s championship. Both sides have not confirmed the news. — VNS
