ĐÀ NẴNG In just one season of playing in the V.League 2, SHB Đà Nẵng Club secured promotion to the national top-flight league, V.League 1, with an impressive performance that left their opponents in their wake.

Đà Nẵng clinched the championship with a 0-0 draw against PVF-People's Police in the penultimate match of the V.League 2 at the Hòa Xuân Stadium on Sunday. As they had already secured promotion before the final three matches, the organisers decided to award the championship trophy to Đà Nẵng ahead of the last game.

Đà Nẵng finished the season with 44 points from 19 matches, including 13 wins, 5 draws and just one loss. In comparison, runners-up PVF-People's Police and Bình Phước had 34 and 32 points, respectively.

The championship and promotion earned Đà Nẵng a 'rain of bonuses' from sponsors, organisers and city authorities, totaling VNĐ5.2 billion (US$204,000).

The trophy they received was specially designed, standing 66cm high and 22cm in diameter at the base and was crafted over a year and a half by artisans from the renowned London-based jewelry company, Thomas Lyte, which has produced trophies for prestigious tournaments such as the FA Cup, the Ryder Cup, the Melrose Cup and the FIBA Basketball World Cup.
