Addressing the celebration of the newspaper’s 75th anniversary, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Hà Công Tuấn said the ministry would continue offering mechanisms, policies and resources to the newspaper so it could become a key media agency of the ministry.
The newspaper was expected to become a multimedia one with in-depth specialised work on agriculture and rural development, thus contributing to the goals of Việt Nam’s agriculture sector for prosperous farming and modern rural areas, Tuấn said.
The deputy minister also said that with further development, the newspaper could meet its readers’ expectations and requirements, particularly in the era of Industry 4.0.
The precursor of Nông nghiệp Việt Nam newspaper is Tấc Đất (Land Plot) newspaper which was established in 1945 as an agency of the Agriculture Production Ministry (now known as the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) to promote production spirit.
On its first publication on December 7, 1945, there was a story by President Hồ Chí Minh in which he assigned Tấc Đất newspaper to instruct farmers to farm effectively.
“The newspaper’s instructions are as valuable as gold,” the president wrote.
The newspaper's editor-in-chief Nguyễn Ngọc Thạch said on Friday that the launch of its media ecosystem would help it better fulfil the tasks assigned by late President Hồ Chí Minh.
The newspaper commits to improving its journalism, further contributing to the country’s agriculture and rural development, he said. VNS
