British COVID-19 patient No 22 tests negative in the UK

A British man who recovered from COVID-19 in Việt Nam, only to test positive again as he left the country, has now been given the all clear once more.

ĐÀ NẴNG — A British man who recovered from COVID-19 in Việt Nam, only to test positive again as he left the country, has now been given the all clear once more.

The man was treated in Đà Nẵng, but as he was heading home to the UK, he was re-tested before boarding a flight in HCM City. It was then he tested positive once again. The result showing he was positive came back after the flight had taken off. He was flown under special isolated condition.

Now, after being tested in England at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, his results came back negative.

Director of the central city’s Centre for Disease Control (CDC) Dr Tôn Thất Thạnh told Việt Nam News that he was given the information by the British Consulate General in HCM City on April 17.

A total of 58 samples taken from people he came into close contact with have all come back negative. — VNS
