Ill fisherman saved off Hoàng Sa Islands

An ill fisherman has been saved in the waters off the Hoàng Sa (Paracels) Islands of Việt Nam yesterday by a team of doctors and rescuers from the Đà Nẵng-based Maritime Co-ordination and Rescue Centre No 2 (MRCC2).

ĐÀ NẴNG — An ill fisherman has been saved in the waters off the Hoàng Sa (Paracels) Islands of Việt Nam on Monday by a team of doctors and rescuers from the Đà Nẵng-based Maritime Co-ordination and Rescue Centre No 2 (MRCC2).

MRCC2 said the fisherman, Ngô Thanh Trung, 23, from Quảng Ngãi Province, suffered severe appendicitis early on Sunday.

A rescue vessel was sent to find the fishing boat and the victim early on Monday.

The fisherman was then taken to the port of Đà Nẵng at 11am on Monday for treatment at the city’s general hospital.

Doctors said the victim was treated and is now in a stable condition. — VNS
