HCM CITY — Five members of the same family have died after a fire broke out in their HCM City home on Tuesday morning.
The one-floor 36sq.m house, located in a narrow alley on Đỗ Xuân Hợp Street, District 9, was engulfed by flames at 4am.
A 70-year-old woman, her son, two daughters and daughter-in-law all perished in the blaze.
Lê Văn Bông, brother-in-law of the 70-year-old victim, told e-newspaper Zing that the house had no fire exit.
Neighbour Ngô Thị Trang said the house was very small with four to five motorbikes parked in front of it, blocking the way out.
“There were explosion sounds from the motorbikes. The door was burned,” she said.
The fire is now under control and the cause being investigated. — VNS
