QUẢNG NINH — Việt Nam’s northeastern Quảng Ninh Province and China’s Guangxi Province began allowing customs clearance through Bắc Luân II Bridge at Móng Cái International Border Gate on Tuesday.

Bắc Luân II Bridge is expected to facilitate the flow of goods between Việt Nam and China, while Bắc Luân I Bridge will be a crossing point for travellers.

Bắc Luân II was opened in September 2017 after nearly three years of construction. It was built by the two provinces to bolster bilateral trade, services and tourism.

The bridge is 618 metres in length and 27.7 metres in width. A section stretching 154.5 metres was built by the Vietnamese side, while the Chinese side was responsible for the rest.

Trucks carrying goods pass Bắc Luân II Bridge.

Quảng Ninh Province had also built a 3.5km section of road leading to the bridge and a modern 7,000 sq.m storehouse.

The province will continue the construction of Vân Đồn-Móng Cái Expressway later this month, which will be connected to the road to the bridge.

Upon its completion, it will form part of the longest expressway in Việt Nam, running through the cities of Móng Cái, Hạ Long, Hải Phòng and Hà Nội, and Lào Cai Province. — VNS
