HCM CITY — The HCM City administration has received more than 13,000 complaints and suggestions since it set up a hotline three months ago.

Võ Văn Hoan, office chief of the city People’s Committee, yesterday chaired a meeting to review the performance of the hotline (08) 88-247-247 team and the outcomes of their actions based on the opinions and complaints.

The calls and messages have been mostly about day-to-day issues like pavement encroachment, public disorder, illegal construction, environmental pollution, traffic congestion, security and administrative reforms and conflicts related to land and housing.

Most of them had been addressed diligently though some required more time, officials said.

According to officials, many callers, thinking that calls on the hotline would be personally answered by the secretary of the city Party Committee, Đinh La Thăng  who ordered its installation – have demanded to speak with him.

The hotline team said there were 4,980 such calls and the messages were passed on to relevant authorities.

Thăng took over as Party chief on February 5 and has since rolled out a slew of such initiatives to tackle a range of problems in the country’s biggest city. — VNS
