QUẢNG NAM — ExxonMobil continues to support STEM education and long-term healthcare programmes in Việt Nam with a total contribution of US$34,000 to Teach for Việt Nam (TFV) in Quảng Nam Province and the VinaCapital Foundation (VCF) in Quảng Ngãi in 2023.

ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Vietnam Limited (ExxonMobil Vietnam) contributed US$20,000 to TFV for providing STEM education and 21st century skills training in communications, collaboration and problem solving.  Three hundred students in the mountainous Quế Sơn district in Quảng Nam province are expected to benefit from the capacity building programmes while 30 teachers in the district will also receive upskill training.

ExxonMobil Vietnam has been supporting TFV in promoting education excellence and equity for Vietnamese children. With a total funding support of US$140,000 for TFV’s STEM programs since 2018, nearly 2,000 students in rural public schools of Tây Ninh and Quảng Nam provinces have directly benefited with improved learning outcomes. In addition, around 300 local teachers from more than 20 schools have been trained to teach STEM in the classroom, benefiting an additional 3,000 students in those schools.

In 2023, ExxonMobil Vietnam also donated 14 pieces of critical neonatal medical equipment and a two-day intensive training session in neonatal emergency resuscitation for doctors and nurses at the Sơn Tây district, one of the poorest districts in Quảng Ngãi province. The provision of these life-saving equipment and training course, worth over US$14,000, aims to help reduce child mortality rates among ethnic minority communities in the district.

This support is critical, especially to infants who need to transfer to other hospitals in Quảng Ngãi or Đà Nẵng city for treatment. Over the past 12 years, more than 2.5 million children and adults benefited through VCF’s healthcare initiatives supported by ExxonMobil Vietnam.

“ExxonMobil has been a long-standing supporter of education and healthcare in Việt Nam,” said Cécile Rauline, President and General Manager of ExxonMobil Vietnam.

“We are pleased to continue our collaborations with local NGOs like TFV and VCF, and support these important initiatives to help unlock the potential of children by developing their STEM and innovative thinking skills, while improving healthcare and well-being in communities in need in Central Vietnam.”
