HÀ NỘI - The second Hà Nội - Autumn Festival will be a highlight among the city's planned activities to celebrate the 70th Liberation Day anniversary.

Under the festival's slogan 'Thu Hà Nội - Mùa Thu Lịch Sử (Hà Nội's Autumn - Historical Autumn)' the event in mid September will promote the beauty, historical and cultural values of the city, using unique, fascinating landscapes, relics and heritage sites in the capital.

The city of Hà Nội wants to present itself as an attractive, quality and safe tourist destination.

This is the second event organised by Hà Nội City to highlight its culture and heritage, according to Deputy Chairman of Hà Nội People's Committee Nguyễn Mạnh Quyền.

"The festival will contribute to the comprehensive development of the capital's tourism in terms of quantity and quality," Quyền said.

Historical relics will be revived featuring the scenes of joyful Hanoians waving flags and flowers to welcome the victorious army marching into the city on October 10, 1954.

The festival will also feature parades and performances by the Municipal Youth Union and Hà Nội's districts and cities including puppet shows, lion and dragon dances and lantern parades.

The city will be alive with a wide range of activies such as Hà Nội's culinary culture, folk and sports dance programmes, áo dài fashion shows, children's parades, painting activities and art exhibitions.

In addition, some booths will present tourism products of Vietnamese provinces and cities, while others, run by international tourism agencies, will introduce cultural and tourist destinations of the countries and promote bilateral tourism.

There will be around 150 booths set up along Đinh Tiên Hoàng Street, Lê Thạch Street and the area of the Octagon House.

Hà Nội in 12 Flower Seasons - an area showcasing typical tourism products and destinations - while another will promote handicraft village products. There is also an area called Hà Nội - Youthful Rhythm of Life for cultural and artistic experiences and entertainment.

The festival will be held from September 12 to 15 with the opening ceremony in the flower garden of Bà Kiệu Temple.

The first Hà Nội Autumn Festival attracted about 80,000 visitors to the three-day festival. - VNS
