As clarified in “The white-nest swiftlet and the black-nest swiftlet: A monograph” by Dr. Nguyen Quang Phach (2002), quantitative analysis of Kathan and Weeks (1969) and Houdret et al (1975), there are 18 types of amino acids in bird’s nesst including: aspartic acid, threonine, serine, glutamic acid, proline, glycine, alanine, valine, methionine, isoleucine, tyrosine, phenylalanine, lysine, histidine, arginine, cysteine and leucine and sialic acid. These are all essential amino acids for the human body. Some amino acids have significantly high contents such as aspartic acid (4.69%) and proline (5.27%) which are important for muscle tissue growth and cell regeneration, etc. Furthermore, amino acids such as threonine (2.9%), tyrosine (5.6%) and sialic acid (8.6%) facilitate strengthening the immune system, quickly recovering damage and stimulating RBC growth.

In addition to the aforementioned amino acids, bird’s nests contain galactosamine (7.2%), glucosamine (5.3%) and tryptophan, which have proven effective in recovery and anti-aging for articular cartilage, anti-radiation and anti-cancer, etc. Besides, bird nests also contain many macronutrients and micronutrients with a high contents and essential for the human body.
