HÀ NỘI — Yet another Vietnamese footballer has flopped abroad.

Midfielder Lương Xuân Trường has been released from his contract by Thai League side Buriram United.

The national team star signed for the club on a one-year loan deal back in February from Hoàng Anh Gia Lai, but he's returning home after only four months.

Thai and Vietnamese media yesterday spread the news.

SMM Sport reported that the Vietnamese player was not registered by the club for the second half of the season.

During his four months, the 24-year-old played nine games, scored one goal and assisted another in all local and international competitions. He was named in the Best IX after round 10 of the Thai League in mid May.

However, he was in the squad for his side's last four matches.

He is expected to return home and play for Hoàng Anh Gia Lai in the second half of the V.League 1 which will begin on July 7. — VNS
