HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam have no athletes left at the ongoing Vietnam Open tennis tournament in HCM City.

Host pair Lý Hoàng Nam and Nguyễn Hoàng Thiên were ousted from the men’s doubles event, losing 4-6, 3-6 to No. 1 seeded duo Sanchai Ratiwatana and Sonchat Ratiwatana of Thailand in the second round on October 13.

“They understand each other very well as they are twins. We know how strong they are and were prepared for the challenge. We started well, but they were better than us in the decisive moments. We tried our best but failed to beat them,” Thiên said after the match.

Earlier, duo Lê Công Tiễn and Nguyễn Đắc Tiến were also disqualified after losing 0-6, 2-6 to Vijay Sundar Prasanthth of India and Christopher Rungkat of Indonesia. — VNS
