HCM CITY — Microsoft Vietnam and the Dariu Foundation on Tuesday launched a project called “Enabling Boat” to help disadvantaged youth in the Cửu Long (Mekong) Delta access computer science and code literacy.
According to the 2018 Digital Transformation Study in the Asia Pacific conducted by Microsoft and IDC, one of the biggest barriers to digital transformation is the lack of skills and resources.
This is not only a challenge to enterprises’ digital transformation journey but also to the country’s.
“Digital transformation brings economic transformation, and it means transformation for everyone”, Phạm Thế Trường, general director of Microsoft Vietnam, said.
“Developed and emerging countries in the Asia Pacific region face similar challenges in digital and economic transformation.
“Lack of digital skills is a challenge, but at the same time also an opportunity for Việt Nam to bridge the digital skills gap by focusing on and accelerating education and digital skills training.”
“Enabling Boat” is a part of the annual “Youthspark Digital Inclusion” programme that seeks to improve the capabilities of and opportunities for rural students in the Mekong Delta in the ICT field and enable them to learn computer science and coding.
This year it will conduct computer skills and code literacy training courses for 35,000 students in Vĩnh Long, Tiền Giang and Hậu Giang provinces. — VNS
