ĐÀ NẴNG — Hà Nội triumphed at the National Junior Karate Championships which concluded at the Tiên Sơn Sports Palace in the central city of Đà Nẵng on Tuesday.
The team brought home 12 golds, five silvers and six bronzes to top the medal tally. The Police team came second with five golds, eight silvers and seven bronzes. Đồng Tháp finished third with five golds, two silvers and four bronzes.
The event attracted the participation of nearly 600 martial artists from 42 teams nationwide.
Male and female participants competed in eight categories across the kata (performance) and kumite (combat) disciplines in age groups of 14-15, 16-17 and 18-22.
The annual event, which was co-organised by the municipal Department of Culture and Sports and the National Sports Administration, was a chance for scouts to find talented young artists for the national team to compete at the Southeast Asian Games and Asian Games. — VNS
