HCM CITY – HCM City is building more than 10 hectares of public parks and two hectares of public green spaces by the end of the year.
According to the city’s park and green spaces' plan, seven new parks will be built in HCM City districts and Thủ Đức City by the end of this year.
The city is also planting or rehabilitating about 6,000 trees, and growing two hectares worth of greenery on empty land plots around the city.
According to the city’s Department of Construction, the city aims to improve local quality of life and the environment, as well as increase the amount of land for greenery.
The department will focus on planting trees, building parks and renovating deteriorated green spaces in housing projects until 2025.
The city also plans to build a minimum of 150 hectares of parks and around the city by 2025.
Thủ Đức City and HCM City districts are working with investors on green space investment plans, and searching and evaluating appropriate land plots for the plans.
The city currently has more than 500 hectares of parks.
Many residents who live outside the city centre - especially Bình Tân District, the most populated district – have complained about the lack of public parks for outdoor activities. – VNS
