HCM CITY — The quality management system at HCM City’s Chợ Rẫy Hospital’s haemodialysis department on February 21 received ISO 9001-2015 quality certification.

The adoption of international standards in quality management system in haemodialysis would benefit patients by reducing the waiting and treatment time, minimise errors, improve treatment quality, and reduce patient overload, Nguyễn Minh Tuấn, head of the department said.

The number of patients on haemodialysis has steadily increased over the past decade, he said.

With only 74 machines, the department currently provides periodic haemodialysis to 430-450 patients and offers emergency treatment to 40-70 patients every day.

It is the first haemodialysis unit at any of the country’s premier hospitals under the Ministry of Health to achieve the quality standard.

ISO 9001: 2015, given by the International Organisation for Standardization, sets out the standards for building a scientific quality management system to control the risk of preventing errors and providing quality products and services that consistently satisfy customers. — VNS
