NINH BÌNH Three teachers were suspended after being caught on video allow students to beat up a classmate at Ninh Bình City’s Cầu Vồng (Rainbow) kindergarten.

The viral video, lasting 36 seconds, was posted online on last Tuesday evening by the child’s mother, showing him being pushed in front of the class by one of the teachers and gang-beaten by up to 10 of his classmate.

The video shows three teachers watching the incident and making no interference. Another one of the teachers also allegedly pushed a child who was sitting down to join the gang.

After reviewing the video, the Ninh Bình City’s Department of Education and Training has asked the board of Rainbow Kindergarten to report on and clarify the case.

The three teachers were identified as Hoàng Thị Quỳnh, Đinh Thị Hải Vân and Bùi Thu Thủy, former teachers of Class 4/3.

According to rector Trần Thị Nga, the school has temporarily suspended the three teachers and also asked them to make self-criticism statements.

Nga also shared that the board and the teachers have come to apologise to the child and his parents, saying that they failed to react to the incident in a timely manner.

“Although the child’s family has accepted the apologies, the school still proceeds to clarify the violation for settlement,” she said.

According to the head of the city’s department Bùi Quang Vinh, the claim that the teachers incited the children to beat the boy during class is not supported by the evidence, even though the video footage shows them standing and watching while the beating takes place.

“After reviewing the footage and statements from the three teachers, we determined they are just lacking some pedagogical skills in nursing children,” he said.

“Things happened for less than 30 seconds so there was no serious harm to the child”, he added, although seriously damaging blows can be inflicted in mere seconds.

The kindergarten, located in Ninh Khánh Ward of Ninh Bình City, has been in operation since 2017 and now has 260 children.

It is considered as one of the best kindergartens in Ninh Bình City with good facilities as well as the quality of education. — VNS
