ĐỒNG NAI — The Đồng Nai Province Center for Disease Control (CDC) reported that it has recorded another local resident infected with monkeypox in Trảng Bom District on June 25.

This is the fourth case of monkeypox in the province.

According to the epidemiological investigation report, the patient started getting sick on June 19 and had symptoms such as fever, chills, sweating, itching and pustules on the genitals.

The patient had a history of HIV infection at the end of 2021 but dropped out of treatment. In addition, during this hospital stay, the patient also discovered syphilis spots on his body.

Currently, the patient lives with his parents and there has been no record of anyone showing the same symptoms as the patient.

Immediately after recording the case, the provincial CDC verified the information and investigated the epidemiological factors and contact history of the patient from 21 days before the onset of the disease.

At the same time, the CDC transferred the patient's contact history information to the Pasteur Institute in HCM City and the Tây Ninh Provincial Center for Disease Control for further investigation and verification.

Currently, the patient is being isolated, treated, and monitored at Thống Nhất General Hospital in Đồng Nai. — VNS
