Bride in southern Việt Nam gets VNĐ100 billion dowry

AN GIANG — A recent social media post in Việt Nam has caused a stir, featuring a bride from An Giang Province who was bestowed a dowry worth almost VNĐ100 billion (US$4.2 million) by her parents.

Several significant charitable contributions also marked the wedding event.

The wedding video of Tuyết Nhi and her groom Samuel Lam shows the bride's parents gifting their daughter a dowry consisting of a luxurious house on Nguyễn Trãi Street in Long Xuyên City, valued at approximately VNĐ70 billion, along with a sum of $1 million.

Additionally, the groom's family presented the bride with jewellery and cheques valued at over VNĐ8 billion.

During the wedding ceremony, which was held late last year, the bride's father and relatives also donated two ambulances worth more than VNĐ2 billion to the Association for the Protection of the Disabled, Orphans, and Poor Patients of Thoại Sơn District, An Giang Province and An Giang Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, to share with society the daughter's happy day.

In addition, the bride's family also donated four gratitude houses to poor households in Long Xuyên City and districts: Thoại Sơn, Phú Tân, Châu Phú (each apartment is worth VNĐ70 million), and supported VNĐ120 million for two heart surgeries for poor patients in An Giang Province.

The bride's father is a businessman in Long Xuyên City who owns a company and has a chain of motorcycle shops in Long Xuyên City and many districts in An Giang Province. — VNS
