HÀ NỘI — During a visit to the northern province of Thái Nguyên on Tuesday, Party Chief Nguyễn Phú Trọng told leaders to closely identify potentials and advantages of the locality to make breakthrough policies as part of efforts to reach its target to become one of the modern industrial and economic centres of the northern mountainous region by 2030.

The party chief said Thái Nguyên should also pay attention to further developing regional linkage to facilitate the development of the province in a rapid and sustainable way while improving infrastructure, making it a modern industrialised province.

He also stressed the need to further enhance the leadership of the Party organisations and highlighted the requirement to ensure economic development, culture and heritage preservation as well as social security while continuously improving the locals’ lives.

The province should also improve the quality of education and training, health services and pay attention to vocational training and job creation, especially in mountainous, rural areas and locations where new investment projects are based.

The province should also pay attention to developing housing projects for workers on low income and having policies for people having contributed to the revolutions as well as ethnic people.

He ordered the locality to have support for disadvantaged people, workers and contributors to the revolution especially when Tết (Lunar New Year) is approaching.

With a strategic location, ensuring defence work and maintaining social and political security and safety was an important task of Thái Nguyên, he said, noting that it must also actively handle and prevent criminals and social evils to ensure safety, creating a favourable environment for investment and socio-economic development.

The Party leader also stressed the importance of building a transparent and strong political system as well as resolutely preventing and handling wrongdoings.

During his working session in the province, Party chief Trọng also visited a tea cooperative in Tân Cương Commune in Thái Nguyên City, which produced an average of 1,000 tonnes of fresh tea in 2022.

Thái Nguyên is located in the centre of the northern mountains and midlands region, which is 75km from Hà Nội. It is also an intersection point through a system of roads, railways, and fan-shaped rivers connecting with provinces and cities.

Located on significant economic axes, with a convenient location adjacent to the Red River Delta, the province has the potential to become a centre of logistics, trade and investment with a number of industrial parks.

Over the past decade, Thái Nguyên has evolved into a leading magnet for attracting foreign direct investment, thanks to its investor-friendly business environment, transparent policies, and strategic location.

Many major businesses have enjoyed great success in the province, including Masan Group and Samsung Electronics, which have made significant contributions to the country’s socio-economic development.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics has raised its total investment in the Yên Bình industrial park in Phổ Yên Town to nearly VNĐ52 trillion (US$2.27 billion). VNS
