HÀ NAM — Police in the northern province of Hà Nam on Tuesday arrested and launched legal proceedings against a 25-year-old man named Nguyễn Trường Giang, who was charged with the attempted murder of a three-year-old boy three days earlier.
At about 3:20 pm on August 13, 2022, a boy named NHĐ (born in 2019, residing in Nhân Chính Commune, Lý Nhân District, Hà Nam District) visited "KAY", Giang’s bubble tea store rented next to Đ's house. Giang, born in 1997, resides in hamlet 8, Chính Lý Commune, Lý Nhân District, Hà Nam Province.
Giang said during his visit, the boy asked many questions, causing him to become angry. Giang hit Đ on the head with a pestle, then proceeded to strangle him with a rope and hit his head on the floor, rendering him unconscious.
Believing the boy was dead, Giang put him in a cardboard box and into the shop's deep freezer. The suspect then placed a machine on the freezer’s lid, locked up the shop, and fled the scene.
At about 6 pm the same day, sensing suspicious behaviour from Giang, Đ’s family broke down the shop’s doors and discovered Đ hidden in the store’s deep freezer.
The victim was taken to an emergency unit for medical care. He is in stable condition and has been discharged from the hospital.
Currently, the Hà Nam Investigation Police Agency and Provincial Police Department are continuing to investigate and prosecute Giang in accordance with the law. — VNS
