HCM CITY — The Blood Transfusion Haematology Hospital in HCM City has opened a new branch in Bình Chánh District’s Tân Kiên high-tech medical cluster.

It will offer high-end testing, diagnosis and treatment of blood diseases.

The VNĐ 1 trillion (US$43.2 million) 300-bed hospital is equipped with state-of-the art facilities and equipment.

Speaking at the opening ceremony on May 19, director Dr. Phù Chí Dũng said the newly-inaugurated hospital would take over the examination and treatment services provided by the old hospital in District 1.

It would help reduce the patient overload that the old hospital at Phạm Viết Chánh Street in District 1 had suffered for a long time and improve the quality of examination and treatment, Dũng said.

The old hospital with only 200 beds receives around 400 out-patients and 250 in-patients a day.

Dương Anh Đức, deputy chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, said the second branch of the Blood Transfusion Haematology Hospital was expected to take the lead in the country in terms of blood transfusion and haematology, offering quality services to locals, the Cửu Long (Mekong) Delta residents and foreigners.

Apart from examination and treatment, the hospital will also function as blood and stem cells banks. —VNS
