HCM CTY — HCM City leaders led by Party Secretary Nguyễn Thiện Nhân on Tuesday called on the General Confederation of the Evangelical Church of Việt Nam (South) to greet clergy and followers for Christmas and the New Year.

On behalf of the city, Nhân congratulated all Protestant clergy and the faithful nationwide, saying the General Confederation of the Evangelical Church of Việt Nam (South) and Protestant followers have contributed significantly to various fields, including environmental protection, adaptation to climate change, education, healthcare and charity, and worked for the development of HCM City.

He hoped the Protestant faithful would continue to co-operate with and assist the city authorities to improve the quality of their lives and join in building and protecting the nation and the city.

Pastor Thái Phước Trường, head of the General Confederation of the Evangelical Church of Việt Nam (South), thanked the city leaders for visiting and offering their wishes every year for Christmas and New Year, and for providing the best conditions for Protestants to fulfill their duties and contribute to development.

He expressed hope that the “relationship between the General Confederation of the Evangelical Church of Việt Nam (South) and the city’s administration” would develop further so that Protestants could continue to contribute to fulfilling the city’s development targets. — VNS
