Tribute concert to be held for late opera singer

HÀ NỘI — A tribute concert to opera singer Vũ Mạnh Dũng will begin tonight at Saturday Coffee House.

The concert will be performed by leading opera artists including soprano Đào Tố Loan, Hương Diệp; mezzo soprano Quỳnh Hương, baritone Văn Giáp and pianist Thương Hà.

The artists were Dũng's colleages at Việt Nam National Opera and Ballet.

Dũng, one of the leading lights of Vietnamese opera was killed by his wife's brother last month who was allegedly a drug user. He leaves behind a wife and four children.

The artists will perform pieces by Frank Liszt; Bethoven and Vietnamese musicians Văn Cao; Dương Thiệu Tước and Phạm Duy.

All the proceeds will go to Dũng's family. The concert will begin at 7.30pm at 45-47 Trần Xuân Soạn Street. — VNS
