HCM CITY — A collection of postcards depicting the life and career of President Hồ Chí Minh is on display at the HCM City Women’s Cultural House.
The exhibition, entitled Hành Trình Theo Chân Bác Hồ Qua Bưu Ảnh (Following Uncle Hồ’s Footsteps Through Postcards), aims to mark the 134th birthday of the President (May 19), and 113 years since the President left the country to seek paths for national salvation (June 5).
The exhibition showcases more than 500 postcards which are property of collector Nguyễn Đại Hùng Lộc, vice chairman of the HCM City Philatelic Association.
“The collection consists of numerous rare and precious images featuring the countries, cities and locations where President Hồ Chí Minh lived and worked; politicians, scientists and cultural experts whom he met; and historical events relating to the President,” Lộc said.
The postcards depict major milestones in President Hồ Chí Minh’s life, such as the youth life of the President and his journey to seek ways to save the nation.
The images also portray the President as a great communist, who founded and led the Communist Party of Việt Nam during two resistance wars.
Pictures of President Hồ with international friends are featured as well.
Lộc said he will continue to collect more postcards to offer a detailed picture of President Hồ’s journey for national liberation.
The exhibition will be open until May 20. The Women’s Cultural House is at 194 Lý Chính Thắng Street in District 3. — VNS
