Fansipan Legend becomes “Việt Nam's Leading Tourist Attraction 2019”

Sun World Fansipan Legend of Sun Group in the town of Sapa, Lào Cai Province was named “Việt Nam's Leading Tourist Attraction 2019" on October 12, in the World Travel Awards Asia & Oceania Gala Ceremony 2019 on the pristine island of Phú Quốc.

This is the first time for Sa Pa to receive such an international award by the World Tourism Awards. Delighted at this special event, Nguyễn Xuân Chiến, Director of Sun World Fansipan Legend shared: "The award is a recognition and encouragement for resort in particular and for Sun Group investor in general, after constant efforts to create high-class and popular for tourists as well as to contribute to into the development of local tourism. We will continue to strive more to deserve this recognition.”

Sun World Fansipan Legend was built and put into operation by Sun Group in 2016. The resort recreates a miniature Northwest on the mountainside among the majestic nature of Hoàng Liên Sơn mountain range. Loved by visitors, Sa Pa is also called "city of cloud".

From Sa Pa town, the Mường Hoa mountain-climbing train - the longest and most modern mountain-climbing train in Việt Nam - takes visitors across the Mường Hoa valley at an altitude of 1600m, to the tourist spot. To many visitors, the short journey on two modern red carriages, from the train station is as beautiful as in the ancient European footage. Designed by Bill Bensley, one of the top five leading architects in the world, travelling on the train is also an impressive experience.

Leaving the mountain train station, visitors will come to the ancient rose garden, a hill with colorful and fragrant flowers booming all year round, the highland market, where they can experience the whole Northwest life of people here with stilt houses, food, colorful brocades and smiles. Visitors can are invited to try to be a "Northwest". The place offers festivals, characterised by mountainous culture of ethnic people in Sa Pa.

Fansipan's spiritual cultural and architectural complex 

Now, it is time for visitors to officially enter the journey to discover one of the most beautiful destinations in the Northwest of Việt Nam, with the Fansipan cable car, the construction with two Guinness world records. The cable car will take visitors across the Mường Hoa valley where they can see the terraced fields like a yellow carpet of ripe rice in n the autumn, the dark green forest highlighted with red and yellow of the local azaleas flower in spring. After travelling through the mountain and the cloud of Sa Pa on cable car, visitors can experience the spiritual cultural and architectural complex with the largest Amitabha Buddha in Việt Nam and temples which are designed like ones in the 15th and 16th centuries of Việt Nam as a stopover.

The final destination of the route is the place that any tourist wants to touch: the Fansipan peak 3143m, known as the Roof of Indochina. 

Sun World Fansipan Legend is the strength of Vietnamese stature and intelligence, with extraordinary efforts that have made a quality, classy and distinctive tourism project on the top of rugged Fansipan. It will richer visitors' experience in Sa Pa, increase Sa Pa attraction and improve Sapa tourism in particular, Lào Cai tourism in general.

Since the resort officially came into operation, the number of tourists coming to Sa Pa and Lào Cai has constantly reached new growth milestones. In 2013, the total number of new visitors to Lào Cai was over 1.2 million, the first half of 2019, the province welcomed more than 2.9 million visitors, the revenue of approximately VNĐ11.25 trillion (US$484.9 million), up 50 per cent over the same period, and equal to 442.9 per cent of revenue in 2013 when Sun Group first arrived in Lào Cai.

In particular, Sa Pa reported 720,000 visitors and VNĐ576 billion ($24.8 million) in 2013. In 2018, it got 2.7 million visitors and VNĐ3.9 trillion ($168.1 million) in revenue respectively. In the first six months this year, the town of Sapa reported 1.65 million visitors and VNĐ5.2 trillion ($224.1 million) in revenue.

The recognition of Sun World Fansipan Legend as "Việt Nam's top attractive tourist destination in 2019" affirms the enthusiasm and relentless efforts of Sun Group, in creating tourism products with international standard, contributing to enhancing the brand name of Việt Nam and strongly promoting the image of Việt Nam on the world tourism map. 

It is also the first continental award for Sa Pa and Lào Cai. The recognition will boost the position of Sa Pa and Lào Cai to a new level. As a result, the local tourism industry will take further steps in the  region and the globe.

On this special occasion, Sun World Fapsipan Legend launched the promotion program "Conquering Fansipan Peak - Pride in Việt Nam" as a way to thank the tourists nationwide. All Việt Namese tourists will receive a 50% discount on Fansipan cable car fares from October 15 to November 15. Accordingly, the ticket price for adults will be VNĐ350,000($15) each  and children will be VNĐ250,000 ($10) each. This is the biggest promotion program ever offered by Sun World Fansipan Legend.
