Background:
The USAID funded "Vietnam Action Against Plastic Pollution" Activity (the Activity) is implemented by Chemonics International Inc. and its partners. The Activity is an innovative and ambitious program designed to reduce ocean plastic pollution at its source in Vietnam through strategic approaches such as convening stakeholders' power, promoting the creation and implementation of data-driven policies, enhancing knowledge and sharing learning, promoting appropriately scaled technology and solutions, and providing technical expertise and building capacity of local governments to manage waste at its source and prevent plastic pollution in our oceans. Three main objectives of the Activity are (i) supporting multi-stakeholder actions for Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), (ii) supporting scalable, demonstrated Single Used- Plastics-Products (SUP) reduction measures and (iii) supporting the development and implementation of sub-national level Integrated Solid Waste Management Plans (ISWM).
Description:
The purpose of this call for EOI is to identify potential partners who are experienced and have capability to apply that experience at national, sub-national, and/or community levels to enhance solid waste management and recycling with related interventions in EPR and reduction of single use plastics to reduce impact on the environment and specifically plastics leakage. This experience may include fostering multi-stakeholder relationships and build capacity and awareness for planning and implementing enhanced models for solid waste management and plastic pollution reduction. Below listed are some areas of SUP EPR and ISWM which Vietnam Action Against Plastic Pollution the Activity envisions for partner support. However, the list is not limited to these items:
· Policy and planning for national and sub-national governments.
· Technical implementation of solid waste management and recycling solutions.
· Public and private financing for provision of urban services and other initiatives.
· Social and behavior change/behavior change communications campaign design and implementation.
· Digital solutions and data analysis and reporting.
· Specialized experience with design and implementation of EPR and SUP reduction schemes.
