But on Sunday, one expecting mother had a train journey she will never forgot.

She left HCM City on Saturday night and arrived at her destination with one extra passenger, after giving birth on the journey.

According to the train captain, at 2.30pm on Sunday, staff were told 28-year-old Lăng Thị Mậu from Nghệ An Province was going into labour.

A call was put out over the loud speakers to see if there were any medical staff on board, and no one replied so it was left to the train staff to help with the birth.

The bouncing baby girl came into the world at 4.30pm Sunday weighing a healthy three kilograms.

Mother and daughter were taken off the train at Huế Station and taken to the local hospital for observations. Both are doing well.
