HCM CITY — The opening ceremony of the 8th HCM City Sport Games 2018 was held on Nguyễn Huệ Walking Street on Saturday evening.
The event, which will end on May 19, has attracted more than 6,500 athletes from 24 districts in HCM City, performing in 31 different types of sports.
Nguyễn Thị Thu, deputy chairwoman of HCM City People’s Committee, said the games play an important role in promoting and improving the quality of physical education and sport science in the city.
In November, the top-performing members of the HCM City team will take part in the 8th Việt Nam National Games in Hà Nội.
The HCM City Sport Games is a multi-sport event involving participants from all city districts held every four years. -- VNS
