The World Games 2017 kicked off on Thursday in Wroclaw, Poland, with the participation of six Vietnamese athletes.

HÀ NỘI — The World Games 2017 kicked off on Thursday in Wroclaw, Poland, with the participation of six Vietnamese athletes.

Trần Quyết Chiến will compete in the men’s carom 3-cushion event.

Đào Lê Thu Trang and Đào Thị Như Quỳnh will participate in the women’s duo jujitsu.

Nguyễn Thành Lộc will participate in the men’s finswimming 100m surface.

Võ Văn Đài and Bùi Yến Ly will compete in the Muay Thai men’s 63.5kg and women’s 51kg categories, respectively.

This year’s Games is from July 20 to 30, with 27 official sports and four invitational sports featured. Athletes from 102 countries and territories have gathered to compete in the event.

The World Games is a multi-sport event, meant for sports, or disciplines or events within a sport that are not part of the Olympic Games.

It is organised and governed by the International World Games Association, recognised by the International Olympic Committee.

The Games are held every four years, one year after the Summer Olympic Games. The first World Games was held in 1981. — VNS
