HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam’s national football team tied 0-0 with Avispa Fukuoka FC of Japan in a friendly match at Cần Thơ Stadium in the southern province of Cần Thơ on Saturday.

Coach Nguyễn Hữu Thắng used some of his best players in the match. Việt Nam dominated from the first minutes of the match. In the eighth minute, striker Nguyễn Công Phượng had a chance to open the score for Việt Nam after receiving a pass from midfielder Lương Xuân Trường but he couldn’t convert it into a goal.

Before the first half ended, Việt Nam created numerous dangerous situations for Avispa Fukuoka’s goal but they were not lucky enough to find the net.

In the second half, coach Thắng changed four players in his formation, however, the Japanese side chose a safe tactic so no goals were made.

It is the first time a team from J-League 1 have competed with the Vietnamese national team.

The event was a warm-up for Việt Nam to prepare for the coming AFF Suzuki Cup 2016 in Myanmar. — VNS
