Trâm emerges as potential star at swimming tournament

There was no better swimmer than Nguyễn Diệp Phương Trâm at the National Age Groups Swimming Tournament on its fourth day in HCM City yesterday.

HÀ NỘI — There was no better swimmer than Nguyễn Diệp Phương Trâm at the National Age Groups Swimming Tournament on its fourth day in HCM City yesterday.

The swimmer from the host city won six gold medals, including four individual titles, and set a tournament record in the morning.

Trâm, who recently received a sponsorship of about VNĐ18 billion for nine years, had no worthy rival in her 14-15 age group.

She won the 50m freestyle event with a time of 26.96sec, winning the gold medal and setting a new record.

She won the other individual gold medals in the 100m backstroke (1:06.81), 400m medley (5:05.34) and 800m freestyle (9:22.70) events. She also topped the podium in the 4x100m medley relay and 4x100m freestyle relay.

At the end of  Day four, Trâm has 19 gold medals, becoming the best swimmer of the tournament.

Her outstanding performance has helped HCM City to top the team rankings with 47 titles. — VNS
