HCM CITY — HCM City will host the first ever Fashionology Festival in October on Nguyễn Huệ Walking Street.

The event, which will combine fashion and technology, is aimed at promoting tourism while also boosting the fashion and textile industries.

More than 100 textile and garment, footwear and accessories firms, 40 local and international fashion designers, 300 models, 24 artists and two foreign DJs will participate in the event.

There will be a giant catwalk designed with advanced technologies such as 3D video-mapping along the 670-metre street.

Visitors can enjoy unique fashion collections which explore the themes of Bản sắc Viễn Đông (Far Eastern Identity), ready-to-wear fashion and futuristic fashion.

They can interact with fashion designers and shop for their favourite fashion products online through mobile app Apps FF 2017.

“It is one of the major cultural and tourism events to attract domestic and international tourists to the city,” Bùi Tá Hoàng Vũ, director of the city Department of Tourism, the event organiser, said.

Impressive cultural and art events that are lined up this year would help the tourism sector achieve its target of seven million foreign tourists, he said.

The Fashionology Festival, to be held from October 20 to 22, is expected to attract more than 500,000 visitors. —VNS
