HÀ NỘI — Nearly 140 athletes are partaking in the National Youth Shooting Championship 2019 which began in Hà Nội on Wednesday.

Marksmen from 13 teams will compete in 11 events for men and seven for women for both individual and team titles.

General Secretary of Việt Nam Shooting Federation Nguyễn Thị Nhung said the best shooters will be called up to the national team and trained intensively for international tournaments.

The tournament will finish next Tuesday.

Shooting is a strong sport for Việt Nam and marksman Hoàng Xuân Vinh brought home one gold and one silver medal from the Rio Olympics in 2016, Việt Nam's first ever Olympic gold.

Vietnamese shooters will take part in the Southeast Asian Games in the Philippines later this year. — VNS
