Two Vietnamese women repatriated from Russia and a Malaysian man brought to the country as an expert worker have tested positive for COVID-19, taking the total number of patients in Việt Nam to 1,113.

The ongoing heavy rains and flooding has killed 20 and 14 reportedly missing in central provinces, as the country braces for the seventh typhoon to occur in Việt Nam this year.

Thảo is among 50 female patients being treated at the general hospital in Lạng Sơn Province, a hot spot for human trafficking, after they were transferred from Chinese authorities to Việt Nam in February this year. Most of them were trafficked to China and forced to work as prostitutes or to give birth to a baby. Many became victims of domestic violence.
