NGHỆ AN — The Nghệ An People’s Committee has fined a company nearly VNĐ230 million (US$10,000) for selling substandard products.

Inspections by concerned organisations said the Thiên Minh Đức Group Joint Stock Company has sold more than 3,000 litres of Ẹ Ron 92-II with ethanol equal to 0.67 per cent of the total volume. The national standards regulate that the ethanol content must be 4-5 per cent of the volume.

Thus, the company gained illicit profits of more than VNĐ63 million ($2,700) from substandard petrol.

Apart from the fine, the committee also withdrew a certificate allowing the DKC Đền Cuông Petrol Station to sell petrol for a month. The petrol station, in Diễn An Commune, Diễn Châu District, belongs to the Thiên Minh Đức Group Joint Stock Company.

The company is headquartered in Vinh City, the central province of Nghệ An. The chairwoman of the board of directors is Chu Thị Thành. — VNS
