HÀ GIANG — Two people were killed and three others were injured in a landslide, triggered by torrential rains between Sunday and Monday, in Hoàng Su Phì District, the northern mountainous province of Hà Giang.
Vũ Mạnh Hà, secretary of the district’s Party Committee, said the heavy rainfall had cause economic damages and loss of human lives.
Many houses reportedly collapsed due to the rains, he said.
A section of provincial road No 177, connecting Hoàng Su Phì District to Bắc Quang District, was blocked by hundreds of cubic metres of land and rocks after torrential rains, he said.
In Xín Mần District, another landslide hit a section of provincial road No 178, linking Cốc Pài Town to Nà Chì Commune, while some bridges were destroyed after the downpours.
Nguyễn Đức Vinh, head of the provincial Agriculture and Rural Development Department said the department had mobilised agencies to help local residents.
Vinh also said they were calculating the damages so that they could give financial support to affected people. — VNS
