HÀ NỘI — A technology transfer project run by Belgium at three universities in Việt Nam has gained positive results after two years of implementation.

Part of the Vietnamese – European Knowledge and Technology Transfer Education Consortium (VETEC), the project aims to help universities in Việt Nam improve their ability to use digital technology and establish a technology transfer network between Việt Nam and Europe.

It has been carried out at the Hà Nội University of Science and Technology, Huế University and Cần Thơ University from September 2016 in partnership with three universities from Belgium, Germany and Portugal.

Some 30 professors and staff at these Vietnamese universities have received technological training from their European partners over the past two years, Dr Hoàng Minh Sơn, principal of Hà Nội University of Science and Technology, said at a project review conference in Hà Nội yesterday.

“They have become aware of a number of technology transfer models and are able to identify the advantages and disadvantages of applying these models at their respective universities,” he said.

The project is expected to end in September.

The total implementation cost of US$800,000 has been covered by the European Union. — VNS
