HÀ NỘI – The Prime Minister’s Certificate of Merit will be awarded posthumously to Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reporter Đinh Hữu Dư who lost his life while reporting on the recent floods in the northern mountainous province of Yên Bái.
Deputy Prime Minister Trương Hòa Bình signed a decision to this effect yesterday.
Dư, who was standing on Nghĩa Lộ Town’s Thia Bridge to record images of the floods, was swept away when the bridge collapsed on October 11.
Born in 1988 in the northern city of Ninh Bình, Dư started working as a VNA correspondent in Yên Bái Province in October 2016.
Previously, he was one of the reporters honoured by the provincial People’s Committee for outstanding achievements in reporting on floods and heavy rains in Mù Cang Chải District in August. — VNS
