HÀ NỘI – Hà Nội plans to construct an underground tunnel with a cost of VNĐ700 billion in order to reduce traffic congestion once the Vĩnh Tuy 2 Bridge is open to traffic.
The Hà Nội People's Committee plans to build the underground tunnel connecting Cổ Linh crossroads in Long Biên District with a road leading to Vĩnh Tuy Bridge.
The total investment is projected to be between VNĐ500 and 700 billion and will be accomplished between 2023 and 2024.
The tunnel will be constructed with reinforced concrete in the direction of Vĩnh Tuy-Long Biên and vice versa. Closed tunnels, open tunnels, retaining walls on both sides, pathways, and obstacles at both tunnel ends are all part of the construction.
The tunnel will be approximately 500m long, with a cross-section width of 7.75m and two lanes for motor vehicles on either side.
According to construction authorities, tunnel design characteristics and usage functions should be comparable to those of existing underground tunnels such as Lê Văn Lương, Trung Hòa, and Thanh Xuân.
After the tunnel is completed, the Cổ Linh-Vĩnh Tuy bridge intersection will have three road levels, including the overpass, the road at the present crossroads, and the underpass. – VNS
