HCM CITY — Police at Tân Sơn Nhất Airport have seized an estimated US$1 million in cash, which two men had hidden in their baggage and intended to take to Bangkok, Thailand.

After scanning the bags at the Tân Sơn Nhất Airport on Thursday and finding signs of suspicions, customs examined them more closely.

The officers discovered their two suitcases had 12 stacks of notes covered with a black chemical. The notes appeared to be US$100 bills. The serial numbers are not visible.

The two passengers are T.C.T., 50 and N.K.V., 46. Both are Vietnamese citizens.

The estimated value of the currency is about $1 million. The two passengers planned to travel on flight VJ803.

Police investigations are continuing. — VNS
